If you are new to Ebony Hair or wanting a change we strongly advise coming in and chatting with one of our stylists first. If this isn’t possible you can also email us pictures of your hair now and your hair goals. However, if we haven’t seen your hair in person any quote we give you will only be a guide.
If we haven’t seen your hair before your booking and we find that a lot of corrective colour work is needed or your hair is too damaged, we may need to reschedule your appointment and the service will not be performed on that day. We don’t like to rush – no one ends up happy and the desired result is never achieved if it is rushed so our stylists will never start a service that cannon be finished in the time they have. Corrective colour is not always straightforward and can take time!
Going from dark to blonde is no easy feat, especially If you have previously coloured or damaged hair!
Every head of hair is different and everyone has different underlying pigment to their hair that is exposed when lightening. These pigments can be anywhere in-between ‘RED’ to ‘COPPER’ to ‘YELLOW’ and you will need to go through these ‘in-between’ colours before your goal is reached. We can’t be sure how your hair will lift until your first colour session with us and in some cases (ie if your hair is very damaged) a test strand may be needed to be sure that you will walk out of the salon with your hair still intact.
Condition is priority at Ebony Hair and our stylists will not perform a service they feel will compromise your hair too much.
While this process is kinder on your hair than lightening, it still requires time as the underlying pigment needs to be put back into the hair. This can definitely be achieved in one session however 2-3 coats of colour are usually needed to fill in your blonde. If your hair is very damaged OLAPLEX may be recommended to get you hair to a condition that will accept and hold colour.

We will guarantee any colour that has been agreed on during your consultation (please bear this in mind if you are going lighter and your stylist has only committed to an ‘in-between’ colour). We ask if you have any issues to please let us know within 2 weeks.
It is important to discuss home haircare at your appointment as any products containing silicones and sulphites will void your colour warranty and will wash out any colour or prevent it from penetrating in the first place.
For highlights, grey coverage, full colour services and haircuts we recommend a 6 week cycle to keep your hair looking its best.
Toners should be rebooked at 3-4 weeks to keep blondes glossy and prevent any brassiness.
Any corrective colour will need to be discussed with your stylist and your hair assessed if you require more colour inside of this 6 week period.
A text message will be sent to all guests the day before your appointment. Please text ‘yes’ to confirm or call the salon to reschedule. Please let us know if you can’t make your appointment – any guest that continuously doesn’t show up will be asked to pay a deposit for future appointments.
